Ever since the Nike Air Flightposite “Exposed” collection made its run last year, sneaker fans have kept hopeful watch on news of the original silhouette’s return. Well, after 15 years the wait is over! On Saturday, February 22nd the rarely seen retro Nike Air Flightposite 1 returns as the Nike Air Flightposite 2014 in an OG blacked out, “Carbon Fiber” colorway. Originally launched in 1999, these sneakers were designed to match the long, fluid lines and sleekness of futuristic concept cars. The “Carbon Fiber” edition is so rare, you won’t even find it on eBay. With the Flightposite 2014 releasing so early in the year, we’re bound to see some crazy colorways to hit this silhouette. Check back here for!
The Nike Air Flightposite 2014 stays true to its original silhouette with very minor updates to the medial sides of the shoe. The sleek, aerodynamic silhouette features a carbon fiber print across its Foamposite upper. Borrowing from the Nike Zoom Glove tech, the Flightposite 2014 features a black zipper shroud to cover the laces and extends up the heel. To contrast, hits of white are added in the swooshes on the heel, tongue and base of the shroud. Fun Fact: If you look closely you can see a swoosh imprinted just above the black outsole. Also, Nike reminds everyone about the Flightposite’s Alpha Project status by featuring the 5 dots on the heel tab. While keeping to the original, the insoles of these kicks received some enhancements by infusing some of the great Nike Air Ad Campaigns. One insole reads, “excuse me while I kiss the sky” and the other “gravity will never be the same.
The Nike Air Flightposite 2014 “Carbon Fiber” retails for $210 and will be available on Saturday February 22, both online and at all KicksUSA locations. These kicks took 15 years to re-release, don’t miss out!
